It was a different kind of poetry show than I’m used to and I was hella nervous. For one because it wasnt an open mic, the poets who spit were hand-picked by explicit and I got on the playbill with X and Corey Black so I was like “I gotta bring it”…

So, soulstage is 1 year old. I haven’t been there from the very beginning, but just seeing how it’s grown in the 8 or so months that I’ve been there is amazing! I’m really proud of Brandon and Marlo for taking something so positive and making it work, when such positive venues so often fail. I wish you all many more years and much expansion!
